CLSU Graduate Studies Team Joins CODEPP Elevate 2026 to Boost Online Learning and AI Tools
The CLSU Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS), through its Distance, Open, and Transnational University (DOT-Uni), attended the national training workshop, “CODEPP Elevate 2026,” on July 7-8, 2026. The event focused on integrating AI, strengthening quality assurance, and expanding reach through MOOCs and microcredentials. The event also helped member institutions upgrade online programs, use advanced digital tools safely, and meet global quality standards. The CLSU delegation, led by IGS Dean Dr. Alona Badua, included Department Chairs Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy, Dr. Cesar V. Ortinero, Dr. Marijoy M. Buenavista, and Dr. Roann Alberto-Lao.
Leading distance education experts led the team in learning. Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL) recognition, global benchmarks, and navigating the frameworks of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) and the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) were covered in the first day. Discussions were also focused on integrating AI into teaching and assessment. The second day covered developing MOOCs and microcredentials to reach more learners globally.
The CLSU team trained on key outputs, including an institutional quality assurance checklist, an AI-integrated lesson prototype, and a blueprint for short online courses. Insights from CODEPP Elevate 2026 will help CLSU improve its academic policies, making its graduate distance learning courses more modern, secure, and accessible. The first day also featured in-depth discussions on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching and assessment. The second day covered the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and short-term, stackable certificate courses (microcredentials) to reach more learners globally.
