COMPUTER APPLICATIONS FOR MATH EDUCATION
Use and evaluation of equipment and software available for the mathematical classroom; using these in developing classroom lessons, and preparing these for adoption ; investigating mathematical problems using laboratory approach with PCs and a variety of software for number theory, calculus, geometry, probability, and elementary numerical analysis.

Learning and cognitive development theories of human development and learning; reinforcement, motivation, modeling memory; transfer of learning and individual differences; application of learning theories in instruction; researches in educational practice.

Rudiments of pure mathematics: fundamentals of logic, arguments, quantification, methods of proof, algebra of sets, relations, and functions.

Properties of integers particularly positive integers; simple account of classical number theory such as divisibility theory, Diophantine equation, primes and their distribution; theory of congruence, Fermat’s theorem, continued fractions; some number theoretic functions, and primitive poots and indices; historical background from which the subject evolves; computational problems, development of basic techniques and test understanding of concepts; theory of number; practice in constructing proofs.

LINEAR ALGEBRA AND MATRIX THEORY
Study of vector spaces and subspaces, linear dependence, linear transformations and matrices, eigen values and eigen vectors, diagonalizing and similarity transformation.

Operation, properties, and structures that support groups, subgroups, cyclic groups, permutation groups, abelian groups, homomorphism, isomorphisms, complex numbers, finite groups; integral domains, fields , and polynomial extension of fields.

MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS
Elementary and transcendental functions and their properties, limits, derivatives and integrals; sequences, infinite series and power series; functions of several variables; partial differentiation and multiple integrals.

Relationships of random variables using the simple, partial and multiple correlation analyses; simple linear, multiple, and non-linear regression analyses.

Complex variables, analytic functions, and complex integration, power series, and residues, conformal mappings: derivatives and Cauchy-Riemann equations, integrals and Cauchy integral theorem, contour integrals, Liouvilles’s theorem, power, and Laurent Series.

Discussion of counting techniques, probability and probability distribution of random variables and its properties; discrete probability models, continuous probability models; joint and conditional distributions; sampling, and sampling distributions.

DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
Introductory course in ordinary differential equations (ODEs) primarily on techniques for finding explicit solutions to linear ODEs: first order ordinary differential equations, linear differential equations, linear equations with constant coefficients, non-homogeneous equations, undetermined coefficients, and variation of parameters, linear systems of equations, the existence and uniqueness of solutions; elementary application of first order ordinary differential equation.

STATISTICS I (BASIC STATISTICAL METHODS)
Review of the fundamental concepts of statistics: descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, measures of central tendency, measure of variability and the concept of the normal curve; measures of association such as simple and linear regression and correlation; statistical inferences such as sampling, testing hypothesis; introduction to ANOVA and some application of non-parametric statistical tests in the social and behavioral science researches.
Pre-requisite : Statistics 100 or its equivalent

Use of research methods and techniques in the problems of education, with emphasis on appropriate methods in the preparation of thesis or special problem.

Documentation and critical analysis of planning and evaluation of selected educational projects with emphasis on transfer of technology, capability building, institution building, and community resource development; workshop in project planning evaluation and management of projects related to education.
