𝐃𝐎𝐓-𝐔𝐧𝐢 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

The CLSU Distance, Open, and Transnational University (DOT-Uni) kicked off the academic year with a welcoming and informative orientation program for its new students on March 18, 2025, via Zoom Teleconferencing. DOT-Uni Dean Dr. Elaida R. Fiegalan delivered the opening remarks, she highlighted the opportunities that awaits the students and emphasized the importance of commitment and perseverance in achieving academic success. The program continued with presentations from DOT-Uni Personnel. Ms. Angelica Dadag, Ms. Nickie Jane Castaneda, and Mr. Rodgiel Montanez took the stage to introduce DOT-Uni and its offerings, as well as its rules and regulations. The highlight of the orientation was the presentation from the Curriculum Program Focal Persons, who introduced their respective programs and explained how they would guide students through their academic journey. Dr. Andrea May C. Malonzo represented the Masters and PhD programs in Rural Development, Dr. Carolyn P. Gonzales-Marzan presented the Master in Business Administration program, and Dr. Cesar V. Ortinero introduced the Master in Environmental Management program. Other notable presentations included Dr. Edilyn V. Lasangan’s introduction to the Master in Agribusiness Management, Dr. Lalaine Ann F. Manuel’s overview of the Master of Science in Education with a major in Mathematics and Certificate in Teaching, and Ms. Nickie Jane Castaneda’s presentation on the Master of Science in Education with a major in Educational Management, representing Dr. Leila M. Collantes. Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy rounded out the presentations with an introduction to the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Education program. The event marked an exciting beginning for the incoming students of DOT-Uni, providing them with valuable information about their academic programs and the support they can expect throughout their studies. Students are now equipped with the knowledge to embark on their educational journeys. The orientation will continue on March 21, 2025, with a meet-and-greet session for both old and new students, providing an opportunity to connect, ask questions, and address any concerns before the semester begins.

The CLSU - Distance, Open, and Transnational University (DOT-Uni) kicked off its first day of the Learning Outcomes and Syllabus Writing Review Workshop on March 19, 2025, at the Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (CENTrAD). Dr. Elaida Fiegalan, the Dean of DOT-Uni, formally opened the workshop with an inspiring address. She shared her vision for the program and the critical role of defining and building clear program outcomes in shaping a robust syllabus. She stressed that regularly reviewing syllabi ensures alignment with the evolving educational landscape. Fiegalan also provided a comprehensive look into the evolution of the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) and Program Outcomes (POs) of DOT-Uni, highlighting the university's growth from its inception to the present. The event also featured remarks from Dr. Ravelina Velasco, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, who expressed gratitude to the attending faculty for their commitment to advancing academic excellence. She highlighted that the workshop will significantly contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG No. 4, Quality Education. Faculty tutors from various colleges attended the workshop, including representatives from the College of Agriculture, College of Business and Accountancy, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Home Science and Industry, College of Science, and the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine. For the first time, the CLSU - Distance, Open, and Transnational University (DOT-Uni) participated in the 37th AAOU General Body Meeting, held in a hybrid set-up hosted by Allama Iqbal Open University in Islamabad, Pakistan, on October 16, 2024. The meeting provided a platform for member universities to share important updates, including reports on the AAOU Journals, which serve as a vital resource for promoting research and knowledge-sharing in the realm of open distance education. One of the Agenda of the meeting was the report presented by Dr. Melinda dP. Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). She addressed the progress of the Accreditation System for Quality Assurance and Technology-Enhanced Higher Education, emphasizing the need for adaptive strategies in the face of rapid technological changes. Looking ahead, the AAOU also announced the new initiatives for 2024, with the Open University of China in Beijing, China, set to host the next conference. CLSU's inaugural participation marks an important step in its commitment to engage with regional partners, enhance its educational offerings, and contribute to the broader goals of AAOU.
